Code P0306 – #6 Cylinder Misfire

05-crown-vic.jpg

Question:

I have a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria with the check engine light on. I had the codes checked and the codes are P0306 and P0316. What do these mean and what do I need to do to correct the problem.

Answer:

P0306 – Is a #6 cylinder misfire and P0316 is a misfire occurred in the first 1000 revolutions of the engine. So P0316 if confirming that this is a consistent misfire and P0306 is letting you what cylinder is affected.

Solution:

Replace the Coil pack or Coil on boot assembly on the #6 cylinder. Looking at the engine from the front of the car, this will be the 2nd one on the right. Replace it and the misfire will be gone. It requires a 7mm socket for the one retaining bolt.
