Invoice: $24,589 MSRP: $26,010

 Engine: 4.0L V-6 210 HP
 Trans: 5-spd auto w/OD
Fuel : City 14 mpg, HWY 20 mpg

Ford Explorer is a traditional midsize SUV with body-on-frame construction. Available with V6 or V8 power, the Explorer competes against the Chevy TrailBlazer, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Toyota 4Runner, and Nissan Pathfinder. Explorer was completely redesigned for the 2006 model year and we were pleased with the new steering, new suspension, and new brakes, all of which were vastly improved over the previous-generation. The latest Explorer is quieter than previous models, and it rides better. It leans less in corners and the brakes are more responsive. The rear seats fold flatter, and the interior has been improved throughout.

Vehicle Tested:

2008 Infiniti G37 Journey 2dr Coupe (3.7L 6cyl 5A)
MSRP of Test Vehicle: $37,300

What Works:
Excellent turn-in response, steering accuracy and grip; strong acceleration; quiet and stable at speed; comfortable and functional interior.

What Needs Work:
Steering lacks positive, direct feel; new styling may put off fans of the more muscular G35; sport seat lower cushion is a bit tight.

Bottom Line:
Combining speed, handling prowess and a well-appointed luxury interior, the 2008 Infiniti G37 Coupe is likely to win even more fans than it already has.
