problem charging Cadillac Deville air conditioner
Question:
When the mechanic has tried to charge the ac, he said the compressor clutch would not engage on my 1998 Cadillac Deville 4.6. And the ac would not accept freon, i have tried replacing the Compressor, Evaporator, orifice tube and belt.
Answer:
The clutch has to be turned on manually if he is charging it through the low pressure side with small cans. A shop A/C machine charges the system with out the engine running.
So what your mechanic will need to do unplug the wire at the low pressure switch located on the accumulator and put a jumper wire in the wiring harness( connect the two terminals in the harness0 and install at least one can before he/she can plug it back in to continue the charge.
