What You Need to Learn About Air Conditioning 101
Air conditioning takes place when air temperature and humidity is altered using an electronic equipment known as air conditioner. This appliance is more usually described by the term HVAC “heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. The key target of HVAC is comfort.
Heating is about radiators and furnaces. Hot water from boilers is fed into radiators, which provide heat for homes in extremely cold places. The concept of heating is equivalent to the concept of furnaces fueled by burning wood or coal.
Ventilation deals with circulation and movement of air, typically going down between a closed space and an open space. Ventilation may either be natural or artificial. Ventilators include blowers and chimneys. Aside from comfort, ventilation also provides safety for the occupant, particularly during the frequency of fire.
Contrary to popular belief, air conditioning is not only about refrigerants filling air con units. As its name commends, the apparatus should condition the air, and produce a cooler, more relaxing environment for people. Air conditioning hardware that functions well should provide comfort by doing the following:
– Change the temperature of air by either raising or lowering the temperature;
– Change the humidity of air in circulation;
– Mix air during circulation;
– Clean and purify air.
The air conditioning apparatus used to change room temperature by cooling is known as an air conditioner. If the apparatus changes the room temperature by heating, it is refferred to as a heat pump. Heat pumps are actually capable of heating only at safe cold levels. But when the temperature becomes very low, the heat pump could be replaced with a furnace or a radiator.
Changing the humidity of air incirculation may need specialized equipment called humidifiers and dehumidifiers. Humidifiers function by cooling air circulation in dry and very warm areas by releasing water vapour into air. On the other hand, dehumidifiers function like air conditioning units except that they take away the moisture from the room as cooled air is warmed up and discharged into the room.
