The detrimental environmental impingement of our reliance on fossil fuel is there for all of us to witness. We must see change and autos are definitely an area we can focus on. Cars add to the emissions released which can hurt the environment, so it’s nothing to be amazed about that auto makers have started making environmentally friendly cars.

There are a lot of different types of these eco friendly autos, the most environmentally friendly being a car that runs on battery. A car that runs on battery doesn’t require any petrol or diesel at all as it’s solely powered by electricity originating from the battery. So this is wonderful for the environment and will help you save a lot of money although there is a serious thing to deal with. The automobile engines themselves are a bit limited at this time but the cars are now available to customers. What this simply means is that you will have to recharge the battery after around 100 miles, so it doesn’t have a lot of mileage on one run.

The hybrid car is another type of vehicle available to customers. An environmentally friendly hybrid is powered by a petrol and battery combination. You may be wondering, ‘How is that possible?’ Well, let me tell you. As the vehicle begins to run, it utilizes electricity from the battery. As the car requires more power and reaches a specific speed, this is when it begins using petrol. The good thing about the car using petrol is that it charges the battery up automatically, meaning you don’t have to recharge it manually using an external power source.

There is also another group of autos, called plug-in hybrids. They work much in the same way as the earlier hybrid and are environmentally friendly. Do note that the standard hybrid does not have to be recharged separately whereas this is not the case with the plug-in hybrid. Both hybrid vehicles are better than the normal gasoline-run vehicles, however.

The Prius is a hybrid car created by Toyota and is able to go 50 miles per gallon. It has a tag price of about $22,000 and is today one of the market leaders. Toyota is not the only car manufacturer who is in the hybrid car market, however; Honda developed the ‘Insight’ and in fact this vehicle was the first hybrid to be made available to to consumers. The Honda Insight introduced customers to the hybrid car even if it wasn’t welcomed in the same way as the Prius. A top-rated hybrid car and priced at roughly $27,000 is the Ford Fusion Hybrid. It is seen by many as the best hybrid in the United States. A hybrid car which is said to produce zero emissions whatsoever is the i-MiEV from Mitsubishi. In terms of Japanese car manufacturers, it was among the earliest electric cars developed.

We are going to see continuing development for this sort of automobile and a lot of alternatives for customers looking for cars that are eco friendly.
