1998 ford taurus that will go into reverse,and first gear but will not shift
I have a 1998 ford taurus that will go into reverse,and first gear but will not shift into second or overdrive.Can anyone help me on to the possible problem.We have been told we need a new transmission, a fuse that runs our transmission to all sorts of things and to no avail we still cannot drive it. Please anyone can help me with this.

It either has a bad shift accumulator or the governor is worn out.
