Is there a “special” way to bleed the brakes
The brake line on the front left has rusted out. It was replaced & the brakes bled. Today I have no brakes & the pedal is to the floor. Is there a “special” way to bleed the brakes?
Answer;
Often when one line is rusted others are close to rusting through. When the line is repaired this places increased pressure on the rest of the brake system and another leak develops.
If the pedal is allowed to go all the way to the floor the piston seals in the master cylinder will stroke along surfaces they don’t normally reach and these surfaces may be corroded and pitted from moisture in the brake fluid. When the pistion seals drag over this corrosion they may tear causing a lack of pedal.
The best way to go in a situation where there is corrosion in the brake system is to replace all suspect parts at the same time and bleed with a vacuum or pressure bleeder.
